San Francisco

The heat is on here in SF!

The sun is high, and the sky is blue, luckily there’s that wonderful breeze from the cold ocean to cool it all down.

However my jet-lag is not cooled down.

So after a whole day in the city again, I get home to work, and before I know it…. I’m vertical on the sofa wandering off to dreamland before dinner.

Not good.

So instead of working on the gallery opening post like I promised, I’m giving you this petite bite of my new hometown San Francisco, and hope you’ll forgive me for taking a nap instead.

I came across this little postcard book as I browsed a great store the other day.

The way the photographer has captured the essence of San Francisco, in my eyes, just spoke to me.

Graphic, minimalistic and full of atmosphere.

The photographer Michal Venera has a great story to tell of how he became a photographer.

Originally from Prague, formerly communistic Czechoslovakia, he went to America at the age of 19, defected, and went on trying to support himself by taking on any odd job that came his way.

But after having picked up his first camera, he never put it down again. He attended photography school, assisted and then went out on his own!

I just love his eye!

His images are so clean and full of emotion.

Head on over here to his site to find many, many more photographs to get lost in.

Blog of the week

I’ve finally arrived in San Francisco, and have settled in in my new petite home here.

When I woke up today, SF was misty and had a wonderful cool breeze.

I had a bite of Norwegian chocolate, replied to emails, started making my nest cozy, and are soon off to explore the city.

Jet-lag has kicked in already, hence the chocolate, and I’m feeling a bit zoombi-ish.

So I leave you with this great blog of the week.

Creative, full of super inspiring and beautiful images to meander in.

On their website they write:

GROSSOMODO is a group of crafters that works in Spain since 2008, like a workshop of textile design and production.

We make clothes, accessories, and illustrations of our textile prints.

And boy do they make beautiful things!

Hop on over and check them out their new catalogue here.

Have a great day you all!

I’ll be back more awake tomorrow with the post about the cool store that had a gallery opening and book launch last Friday.

Fashion Friday

The other day when I had lunch with my best friend, I spotted this girl as she walked into our cafe.

Her effortless Hunter-boots outfit is the kind of cool I love to see.

But the first thing I saw when she entered was, in addition to her gorgeous blond mane, the petite vintage gem she had on her arm.

The kind of arm candy I would almost be willing to snag if she looked away. Sadly she never did look away, as she was fully aware of her precious belonging that hung so perfect on her arm.

The Birkin bag!

Sight…

Since I did not get a chance to snag her bag, I opted for second best, a photo.

And since this beautiful woman was a bit shy, and did not think she had the looks of a street-style-worthy shot, I promised I would’t include her eyes.

It made me think though, how we women tend to do that. Wandering around thinking we’re not as pretty or as cool, or intelligent, or successful as somebody else.

Sight…again.

How mistaken we are.

You compare yourself to me and I compare myself to you, but what we should do is compare ourselves to… ourselves.

Am I the best I can be?

Don’t be daunted at the task, just promise yourself to be kind with yourself, and do better tomorrow.

Then smile and go about the day, knowing you are fabulous just the way you are.

And with that deep lesson on womanhood of the day, I’m off to go for a run, have a brazilian, highlight my hair, pluck my brows, suck in my stomach, put on makeup and meet the night with poise!

He, he, after all, we’re only human, non?

Happy Friday!

Necklace Thursday

It’s almost become a tradition here at Le voyage creatif to give you a necklace post on Thursdays.

To share with you a bit of the creative process behind  these necklaces, I’ll tell you what made these come to life.

The other week, after I came across that great fashion story with the red tie, I knew I wanted to create something tie-like.

I guess the idea just marinated a bit while I was busy working on other things.

An then I came across the delicious cheese series that had the most wonderful subtle colors of cream, yellow, gray, blue and black, and I knew I wanted to use those color combinations in my tie-like jewelry.

Next thing I know, I find some left over jersey knit from way back when in my studio, and asked my beloved mother to teach me a cool old Norwegian hand crochet technique, et voila!

This is how my creative mind works best, without too much planning.

So here is yet another Necklace Thursday!

And here are ways to wear them:

What do you think?

Do you like them?

Tomorrow I’ll be going to a gallery opening and book launch with great friends.

So this weekend I’ll give you a sneak peak into this great gallery/ bookstore in town.

Stay tuned!

Chocoholic

Today I shot for a really fun new Norwegian bag company in Oslo, called Chubby cheeks.

The weather was on our side, the location was great and the model just wonderful.

We had so much fun shooting, and over the weekend I think I will just have to put together a bit of a behind the scene post for you.

But since this week is dedicated to food, let’s start  with the delicious dirty dishes.

When I first saw this image I got water in my mouth, and I instantly wanted to lick it all.

Wonderful childhood memories retuned with mom in a flowery apron in our french kitchen cooking up a storm with lots of pots, pans and tools to lick.

This was probably my favorite part of cooking or baking.

The part where you get to eat cookie dough, runny chocolate, and sweets that are meant to become something grander, but their unfinished state appealed so much more.

I still think the most fun part of cooking is before eating the meal, although eating it is delicoius, but the along the way nibbeling is so satisfying.

Seeing and tasting as the food evolve.

Now, I hope you enjoyed, and got a bit hungry, and yes, this is yet another job done by fabulous Katie from What Katie ate.
