Mon petite ‘getaway’

Deep into the mountains on the Ligurian coast there is a very small village with only about 80 inhabitants. The petite village is build upon a rock way back when, with traces of both the Romans and the second world war.

This is where I spent most of last week, in an apartment from 1450 with a big crackling fireplace in the cottage style kitchen, view of olive groves and the sound from the villages church tower giving me a sense of time in this dreamy place.

I was actually on a trip to buy. I have been looking for a while for a home base in Italy, and this place totally won me over with its cottage charm. But we parted as friends and not eternal living companions this time around.

Finding a home and a studio is a process that takes time, so I blew my petite village a kiss as I drove away to catch a train to Milano, and knew that we had become friends that would think of each other fondly every so often, knowing we will see each other again soon.

Come inside with me.

@ ann: It’s been mon petite secret for a while. I have finally found the right area, and would be so happy if I finally totally fell in love with the right place so I could move my base down there. Ann, I will always have a guest room all ready for you, so you can come own and practice your italiano;)
@ if jane: Ahh, the stone, the thick stone walls. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I love the stone too:) and I can assure you my heart skipped a bit too on this journey, and even though I did not end up with a key to mon petite cottage this time around, I hope I will find one soon.
