Wandering women Europe journey 2012 {part two}

After a brief stop in Zurich, we boarded yet again the train that would take us through the alps to “my” Milano.

We’d done a little grocery shopping in Zurich an made an impromptu lunch by the window as the alps winked at us from the elevated horizon in the distance.

Have you had zopf before?

I bet many of you have:)

This delicious swiss bread is the perfect amount of soft, full of flavor and a hint of sweet type of bread I’ve ever tasted.

Ever since I had it for the first time at the age of 15, while living in Switzerland, I’ve been hooked.

I’ll have to make it one of these days and share it with you.

On the train we broke bread, topped it with some cheese and sat in silence enjoying the moment before we went camera crazy as the alps stole the show and food was abandoned…for a minute;)

Little mountain towns and churches graced the alp landscape with its presence and I felt right at home.

I miss these mountains and its villages.

Switzerland definitely has a big piece of my heart and as often as I can I visit, even if only for some hours.

There is something so magical about the alps!

Twilight lingered for a while before the darkness of the night put the majestic landscape to sleep.

We, Ann, Britt and I crossed the border to Italy i silence yet with anticipating hearts before arriving in Milano before midnight.

More to come…
