An evening concert at the beautiful La Scala in Milano

The sound, the buzz, the light, the feel, the anticipation and the history.

La Scala makes me swoon.

Years it’s been on my list of places to enjoy while in Milano, and last time I visited my little dream came true;)

My dear Norwegian friend in Milano, asked me put one something nice one Sunday four weeks ago.

The evening had dressed the city in dark blue as we hurried through the cold winter streets to pick up our tickets.

I was unaware of where she was taking me until La Scala lit up the street in front of us with a warm glow.

Lines of well-dressed Italians lined up outside the ticket office before we made our way inside and found our seats underneath a golden balcony.

It was a magical…

As the light was dimmed and the conductor came to the stage the whole room filled with anticipation and applause.

I had to pinch my arm just to make sure I was really there and gave my dear friend a little hug of gratitude.

Music by Stravinsky and Brahms illuminated our hearts and filled us with beauty.

Oh, how I had longed for music like this being played live.

After a quick break we took our seats again hoping this evening would never end…

Life is indeed a bit too busy these days, but I hop you’re all having a wonderful weekend and that you find time to enjoy the small (and big) things in life.

See you soon;)

  1. Visiting La Scala is on my list of things to do since moving to Prague. I was in Milan during the fall but didn’t have enough time to catch a performance. I keep telling myself, I’m not leaving without experiencing that theatre. Beautiful pics. Glad you enjoyed.

Never been at “la scala”, but everyone told me it’s an incredible experience. Nice vintage photos!
