I love books, and have many more boxes filled them than I care to admit.
But books don’t belong in boxes, they belong on shelves and in visible spots where they can easily be accessed and read.
When I was younger I would come home from school and throw myself on the bed and read.
When hunger overcame me, I’d walk down in the kitchen where my beloved mother was cooking something delicious, grab a bite and head out in the hammock to continue reading, or climb the big cherry tree at the back of the house all the way to the top and read with the sun warming my face.
The stories came alive and my inner movie theater created short films of all the books, and it’s characters became my friends.
Since American boy and I don’t have a TV, there is plenty of evening time to lean back and read next to the fireplace.
The crackling sound and warmth fills the room and we lay sprawled out on the floor with each our books.
So when he asked me to join him to a great used bookstore down town yesterday, I skipped and hopped over to the car with a big smile on my face.
We paroused the shop, and while American boy searched for great photography books I snuck away to explore the basement where all their catalogues all bound up in brown wrapping paper are kept.

Your photos of the old manuscripts remind me of Xiaoze Xie’s paintings: http://www.artnet.com/artists/xiaoze%20xie/
Wow what an impressive collection. I’d be like a kid in a candy store stepping into a bookstore like that.
These are beautiful images! I too love books so much. Lovely post!
