My mom

This is for you, because I love you with all my heart.

Not a day goes by without me thinking about you no matter where I am in the world.

I love that you don’t believe in emails and write handwritten letters on paper without lines.

No matter the address, I am lucky to receive those letters updating me on all the important stuff, like the weather, your beloved garden, big family dinners and what you made, and whos birthday is coming up next.

And attached is dried lavender from the garden, and if I am lucky, a poem from you.

I love that you make things with you hands!

Do you know that the hand-knitted mittens, scarfs, and socks always travels in my carryon?

They are  irreplaceable and filled with love, thus needs to travel safe in my tote.

I am so grateful for all the nights you have stayed up because I needed a special dress for a special occasion, and you were the only one that could make it!

The best part, amidst almost falling asleep over the sewing machine, you manage to smile, crack a joke and tell me you love me.

You are the best chef I know!

You can make anything out of nothing, in no time at all.

You make a house become a home with your magic touch.

You know, there’s a reason my friends still come over to visit. I moved out years ago, so mom, they come to be with you.

You make me feel it will all be alright, with a single touch or a hug.

By your very presence, the storm is stilled and I am safe.

I love your smile.

You always encourage and believe in me, no matter how crazy an idea I have.

You say anything is possible!

I love that no matter how gray of a day, you find a small happiness to be cheerful about.

I love looking at you when I come home to visit, there in the garden you are in the rain with water drops dripping from your nose as you wave at me.

If I manage to become just a little bit like you I would be so grateful, because you are what I steer by mom, you are my rock, my best friend and my heart.

Your talents blow me away, and I know I am lucky to called your daughter.
