Photo of the day

This photo is such a wonderful sneak peak into an artists domain and day.

Kate over at Blue Sky butterfly Studio sent this in for the photo of the day feature I mentioned here, and here.

The painting is a commissioned piece she is working on in her studio over in England.

Let me share with you what she wrote.

Here is a picture of what I am pouring my heart and soul into at the moment. For the last four years I have been nurturing my brood, and while I love it I am also getting ready to spread my wings as an artist.

The picture shows what I am working on at present. The Apollo Butterflies painting in the background, you might recognise from my blog header. It has been an important piece for me, people are wanting this painting and are commissioning me to paint others to fit their rooms. (like the one on the table). It is also important as it may be, if I am very very lucky, fulfilling another dream.

Here in London we have the Royal Academy of Arts http://www.royalacademy.org.uk/events/ which has many wonderful exhibitions in Piccadilly Circus. (Van Gogh at the moment) Well, every summer they throw open the doors to an exhibition for the lucky few who have met the art panels criteria and their piece gets hung in the gallery!! It is called the summer exhibition and it started in 1769.

I was surfing the net the other evening and noticed they were calling for artists to send in their work, and this year the theme is Raw, I thought why not? I will keep my fingers crossed, you never know, dreams can come true!

Her email made me smile big.

Oh, how wonderful I thought to, be able to work with what you love and create such wonderful paintings!

As a former art history student I became positively happy to hear about the Summer exhibition over at The Royal Academy of arts that has been going on since 1769! Can you believe it!

How wonderful to be able to take part in such traditions of appreciation for art.

Thank you Kate for sharing your ‘Photo of the day’ with us, and I wish you the best of luck with being accepted to the Summer Exhibition!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.
