Japanese architect

Ando---church-on-water

I have been thinking about churches lately, and while searching for charming churches around the world, one of my favorite architects came to mind. He is truly a Japanese genius.

Simple, precise, surprising, light, soothing, pure, calming, and just beautiful is his design, especially his churches that to me feel so right, so uplifting and to the point.

Now, this is not a religious post, just a holiday post to inspire you with some wonderful shots of Tadao Andos most famous churches, and other fantastic japanese design.

Enjoy!

Tadao Ando grew up in Osaka, Japan, and started learning about architecture as he was an apprentice at a local carpenter before be began visiting temples and shrines. This is were he got  his training. Oh, how I admire such creative people, with a drive and passion for the art.

Mujii

When I was 17 I lived in Tokyo for 7 months and was so inspired by the culture, design and traditions. So upon my return to Europe I made pilgrimages to a japanese store called Mujii. Then it was only to find in London, however now it is in most big cities around the world.

Go take a look at the simplicity of their products and interior design. I am feeling a bit Japan nostalgic these days.

Have a wonderful 17th of December!
